Greyhounds are a beautiful breed
of graceful
dogs with a certain fate when
they stop winning, unless......

...beautiful people step forward to adopt them.
Then they go to loving homes with loving
owners that contract to care for them.

Dogs adopted through Second Chance for Greyhounds come off the track
at Bonita Springs, between Fort Myers and Naples, Florida. They are
selected by Helen Banks, proprietor of Second Chance for Greyhounds,
and matched with owners who demonstrate their understanding of the needs
and behavior of Greyhounds. Banks, who now lives in North
Carolina, and her associates
have arranged for the adoption of more than 9,000 Greyhounds during
the time she has been running Second Chance for Greyhounds.

Fun
at Doggie Do Day at the Village on Sanibel
|
|

|
Fort
Myers, Florida area greyhound owners gathered recently with other dog
owners at the Village Shops, a shopping area on Sanibel Island, for a
"Doggie Do." Second Chance proprietor, Helen Banks, was there
to talk with non-owners who were interested in rescue adoptions. Part
of the festivities included a Parade down the island's footpath. Here
are some candid shots.

"We have adopted three Greyhounds
through Helen's Second Chance for Greyhounds. All have been wonderful,
docile pets that are quick to bond and, after a brief training period,
very obedient. We have loved all our dogs and feel that our love has
been reciprocated everyday. If you are interested in adopting a Greyhound,
you can't do better than Second Chance for Greyhounds in Southwest Florida."
